Turning Interest Into Action and Paying It Forward
Dealing with the challenges of today requires God's help and assistance. During my medical discharge after returning from my last deployment from the Army, my wife was diagnosed with a bleed in her brain and had to have brain surgery. We know the struggles, bumps on the roads, and detours that life may throw at you. We did not know where to turn or what to do at first. A friend nominated us to a nonprofit for assistance and now it is our turn to pay it forward.
At Out of the Wilderness, we are a nonprofit organization in Billings, Montana that aims to help pull veterans, and/or their families, and other members in our community away from the Devil’s temptations and negative thoughts of depression and negative self-worth thoughts by offering a hand up, not a handout. This is accomplished when we inspire and support the veterans and the community. A desire for actions speaks louder than words. Since 2017, we felt God was wanting us to help families in a time of need. Now we have put a name with our actions and became an official organization that is driven by God’s will, progressive ideas, bold actions, and a solid foundation of support.
The mission of Out of the Wilderness is to provide aid, comfort, and resources to the military, veterans, their families, and members of the community through faith.
The vision of Out of the Wilderness is to ensure military, wounded military, veterans, and their families have access to needed community resources and support.
Here at Out of the Wilderness, our values are still the same from our time in service:
Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
On top of the core values we learned in the service, at Out of the Wilderness we believe in Compassion, Dedication, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Collaborative, Credibility, Responsiveness.
